Video calls make human interaction tricky. Here is how to preserve your well-being and learn to listen to people
The way we interview our sources has changed during the pandemic. Video calls have become the norm but the virtual environment makes it harder to fully engage with people.
In her article for the International Journalists’ Network, Marie Naudascher sets out how to successfully conduct an interview on the platform in this article.
Advice ranges from carefully choosing your language, to time management, asking open-ended questions and preparation.
"If you notice that the recording quality is poor and the interviewee cannot move to another spot, ask them to cut the camera. If the content is good enough already, shorten the call.
