The social media platform can be a hotbed for leads and stories - but only when used wisely
Reddit might be one of the more forgotten-about social media platforms but it can come in handy for local newsrooms. That is, when used properly.
Jill Ryan, Knight research associate in TV news innovation, ASU Cronkite School of Journalism spoke to a handful of Reddit-using journalists about their best and worse ways to use the platform.
Investigative journalist Jeremy Jojola said that it cannot be used for slap-and-dash stories, instead reporters must invest time into building a reputation.
"[Journalists] can’t just swoop in and take content because over time your reputation online will diminish," it reads.
