If there are any two things in vogue, it is newsletters and Instagram. It also turns out there is a good marriage between the two.
A little over a year ago, journalist and digital strategist David Trvdon started to publish a weekly "look ahead" in the form of a disappearing story on his Instagram account. Now, he has ten times more followers on Instagram than when he started (7,300) and 750 newsletter subscribers with a healthy 50 per cent open rate.
Writing for The Fix, Trvdon shares some lessons and takeaways. He details how he structured posts to give audiences a reason to sign up, and now how he is thinking about other platforms. Ultimately, consistency is key.
"I like to think about it as a utility. Like a weather forecast – you can live without it, but once you get used to it, it becomes a part of your routine," it reads.
