Take this crash course created by GIJN that helps journalists understand complex health data and accurately report on the covid-19 pandemic
The news is saturated with statistics and medical jargon that are hard to understand even for us, let alone our audiences.
To help you out, Laura Dixon, the associate editor for the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), summed up 10 tips for reporting on the pandemic that are part of GIJN's new guide on investigating health care for journalists.
The guide is written by Catherine Riva and Serena Tinari who are founders of the non-profit organisation, Re-Check.ch. "
Investigating healthcare is complex and challenging. Reporting in this field means reading lengthy documents and getting well-acquainted with medical jargon," the article reads.
"There is a lot of noise at the moment in the world of medical research, and it can be difficult for a journalist who doesn't specialise in this field to make sense of it.
"Reading this could be the best two hours you invest this year."
