How should newsrooms be producing their content if they want to show up on a Siri search result?
Voice-controlled devices seem to be all the rage at the moment. They have been tipped to get more newsroom content into audiences ears, despite concerns around monetisation and discoverability on the platform.
Looking into 2019, digital trends expert Gabriel Shaoolian predicts on Forbes that voice will be a dominant force in the year to come. Its popularity is spreading into how audiences search for online content, with Siri being the obvious example.
Shaoolian's four tips to optimise content for voice search results come in handy for newsrooms that think about tailoring their online content to how people speak rather than type.
"Keep phrases short and simple," he writes. "Voice search results are typically written at a 9th-grade reading level at most. So, although your information may be high-level, break it down in a way that is easy for anyone to comprehend."
