To work at your best, you need to pencil in downtime. That is easier said than done for those with a busy and unpredictable workload
"If you don’t plan when your breaks are going to come, then any moment is potentially a time you could take a break,” Cal Newport, a professor and author, told the Guardian in a piece about schedulign breaks to work at your best.
"So what happens is all throughout the day, you have this argument with your mind: Should we take a break now? Should we jump on email now? Should we look on social media now? And if there’s no preplan about when you’re going to take those breaks, you’re constantly having this argument."
So by scheduling your breaks, you ensure they take place at a convenient time for you and work more efficiently overall.
