While it's good practice to update social media accounts in real time where possible, scheduling posts is a useful way to ensure you hit peak engagement times.
Richard Kendall, web editor at the Peterborough Telegraph, recently shared some advice for scheduling social media posts on his blog.
He points out that when scheduling tweets or Facebook posts it's a good idea to avoid specific times such as "on the hour" as this is likely to be a popular choice for other people scheduling posts too, meaning your update may have less of an impact.
Kendall also warns against scheduling a link to a story which may have changed by the time the update is posted.
