These apps and plugins can help you determine whether a picture or video is true or false
Verifying whether the images we see online are true or false remains one of the biggest challenges for journalists to tackle.
Some news organisations have looked to open-source tools to debunk misinformation, but an article on IJNet also offers nine other tools that help verify images.
As Molly Stellino, editor-in-chief, State Press Magazine, explains, the InVID Verification Plugin on Chrome and Firefox will show you the original location, date of creation, thumbnails and key frames of any uploaded image or video.
"It allows you to reverse search on Google and Twitter, magnify images without losing clarity and analyse metadata with an Image Verification Assistant," she writes.
