It is that time of year again. The turn of the year - and decade - gives us a chance to review what progress has been made, and identify what could still be improved.
If you are one for New Year's resolutions, author Jill Geisler offers some areas for newsroom leaders to reflect upon in the year ahead on Columbia Journalism Review.
She notes how microaggressions are more significant than the word lets on, and leaders should work to ensure they do not create conflict in the newsroom.
"As a leader, you can raise awareness about microaggressions and use your power to end them. It takes courageous conversations with people who, whether intentionally or through unconscious bias, are causing pain, hurting your journalism, and defeating the diversity efforts you’re trying to advance," she writes.
