The Coral Project has published a guide with case studies, tools, and academic research for setting up and managing an online community
Newsrooms often set out to build a community around an issue of interest to their readers, or an upcoming editorial project.
However the work doesn't end with creating a group on Facebook and inviting readers to join – in order for the conversations to be productive and valuable for both the organisation and the audience, a clear mission, guidelines and ways to engage should be outlined.
The Coral Project has published a collection of Community Guides for Journalism, which cover everything from how to identify your objectives, to creating a moderation team and establishing metrics.
The resources also include case studies, tools, and academic research on the value of communities for publishers, and successful experiments from other newsrooms that can be replicated.
