Just because an event is online it does not mean you have to miss out on networking and fun
With restrictions still in place, conferences such as Newsrewired cannot take place in-person so the media industry keeps on meeting online.
This is where apps like Slack or Hangouts come in handy. You can use them to talk to fellow event attendees or ask questions that you do not manage to squeeze in during the live sessions.
Melody Kramer has written about how journalists can stay connected with each other when in-person meetings are not an option.
She writes that "having a chat room or regular Hangout feels more intimate than a Facebook group," and enables a more detailed conversation than the 280 characters allowed on Twitter.
