Collaborating on a large project can be a difficult task, even for journalists working together on the same investigation. And it gets even more challenging as a story spans multiple teams, borders and time-zones.
To help you kick-start your collaborative data journalism project, Korey Matthews at International Center for Journalists rounded up these tips on launching a collaborative project, common mistakes that people make and useful tools for data journalism collaborations, from four seasoned industry professionals.
“It’s critical to have strong leadership to keep contributors motivated,” wrote Paolo Accardo, editor and co-founder of VoxEurop. “Involvement will highly depend on the co-ordinator’s ability to run the project and keep up the pace and motivation.”
