With the climate crisis increasingly under the media spotlight, the type of coverage that the press has given the issue has also come under scrutiny for giving equal airtime to climate deniers, as well as disengaging reporting.
At the European Journalism Centre's News Impact Summit in October, Jem Collins, editor, Journo Resources, reports how journalists can cover the climate emergency responsibly and engagingly.
One suggestion made by Elisabetta Tola, data, science and tech journalist at Facta and Formicablu, was to adopt a solutions journalism approach to coverage.
"Not to be falsely optimistic, but there is a huge amount we can do aside from explaining the science, looking at what we can practically do," she said.
