Use these four tricks of the trade to save your pitch from landing in the trash folder
Much has been said about how to nail your story pitch to get it commissioned. But often advice tends to focus on writing for traditional news organisations. What about for more niche areas, like business-to-business publications?
Jonathan Rowland, editor of World Cement, offers some concrete tips on sucessfully pitching your story ideas to trade publications, starting with having a firm grip on the specialisation.
"I have covered the cement industry for the past couple of years: that is the cement industry and not the concrete industry. To a layman, there may not be much difference, but if a PR pro pitches a story about concrete, that pitch is useless," he wrote.
