Networking is an important skill that will help you get more stories and build contacts. However, some may struggle with this, whether that is because they are introverted or they fail to catch up with the people they meet at events.
Aubrey Allegretti, political reporter at Sky News, shares his best advice for building a rapport with potential sources in this article for Journo Resources.
For those who struggle with networking, he suggests bringing a friend or colleague along to provide some moral support.
"I did (and still do) this with my best friend when I'm going to some events, because it's easier to approach people in pairs, and gives you someone to talk to when everyone else is in a closed-off huddle."
