What trends should news organisations follow to to maximise their audience reach?
The age old question in journalism remains: how can organisations increase their audience base?
As Clare Cavanagh writes on Reuters, the turn of the year provides an opportunity to reflect on previous year and set about the next with a renewed focus.
As such, she identifies three challenges and solutions for appealing to new audiences.
Cavanagh suggests now is the time to build on the popularity of podcasts by honing the potential of voice-controlled devices.
"The precedent has been set by The Daily podcast from the New York Times which has over 5m listeners per month. Podcasts from The Economist, The Guardian and The Washington Post are now following in those footsteps by heavily investing in audio," she writes.
