Maps, while sometimes overused, can be a great visual for setting the scene of your story and outlining key locations where events have taken place.
This tutorial from Storybench demonstrates how you can create an animated magnifying glass on top of a map, zooming in to highlight areas of interest.
It uses a script from Tom Doan called Magnify.js, and the animation enables readers to focus on any area of the map they'd like by dragging the mouse over that specific section of the image.
