Use this group to secure your next celebrity interview
The Celebrity Interview Club, a Facebook group for freelancers and publicists, was set up this week by freelance journalists Donna Ferguson and Sarah Ewing to help journalists get more commissions.
The group is open to freelancers for UK publications, PRs and publicists, who can request to join the group pending approval from Ferguson and Ewing. The group already counts over 400 members, having passed 350 members 24 hours after launch.
"Well-known celebrity directories charge freelance journalists hundreds of pounds to get access to the contact details of celebrity publicists. But the publicists themselves are always keen to speak to national celebrity journalists with interview slots to fill. That is, after all, the whole point of their job," Ferguson said in an email.
"It occurred to me that a free messaging group that connects freelance journalists with publicists would be very useful for everyone concerned, and hopefully help a few more freelancers to earn a decent crust."
