The Introvert Space

One in three Britons is an introvert. Black Introvert Week UK (BIWUK) is an initiative that gives a voice to a minority within a minority. As well as raising awareness of the challenges faced by Black introverts in the workplace and the classroom, it promotes the ways that employers and teachers can recognise, support and nurture the talents of black introverts. Giving a voice to Black introverts, this year’s campaign will again call for personality diversity to be pushed up the diversity and inclusion agenda.

The public is invited to the first live online screening of "Silent Strength: Black Introverts’ Experience" on Thursday 24 October at 18:30-19:15 GMT. This is a groundbreaking documentary by BIWUK and The Introvert Space founder, Richard Etienne, delving into the lives of Black introvert professionals navigating today's dynamic workplace.

This powerful film captures their unique stories highlighting overlooked experiences of introverts in environments that favour extroverted qualities. The free online event includes a live chat with the BIWUK team and a chance to provide your thoughts after the screening.

Register online by Wednesday 23 October 23:59 BST to be the first to see this thought-provoking documentary.  Tickets are free and available from Eventbrite on bit.ly/BIWUKfilmscreening

During the week, HR professionals can also access a new learning toolkit that provides guidance around personality diversity training.

Richard Etienne said: “We live in a world built for extroverts and our workplaces are designed for extroverts, run mostly by extroverts. So you can see why we are very often failing to recognise and reward the talents of introverts. There are an estimated one million Black Britons with introverted personalities and BIW UK was set up to raise awareness of their experiences.

“Diversity is more than skin deep. We need to learn how to recognise and reward everyone’s talents. I am extremely proud of the documentary and what it stands for. I’d be delighted to hear more from Black introverts and employers alike about how our resources are helping to empower workplaces.”
