Kate Usher, a leading menopause coach and workplace consultant, is hosting an insightful webinar with her husband, Neil Usher, on “Navigating menopause together as a couple”.
The event is designed to help both women and men understand how menopause affects relationships and provide practical tools to navigate this phase together.
Kate founded Menopause in Business to help organisations become more menopause-inclusive. She is an expert in menopause and the many ways it can affect people and their families. In 2024 she published A Couple’s Guide to Menopause – Navigating the Change Together with her husband, Neil.
“Menopause doesn’t have to mean the end of closeness,” said Kate Usher. “In fact, if both partners focus on communication and connection, it can bring them closer than ever before.”
Having struggled with more than 30 menopause symptoms for more than a decade, Kate understands firsthand the challenges this transition presents. “I had to learn how to manage my own experience and communicate with Neil, our children, and my clients. It wasn’t easy, but it was essential.
“We’re often told that menopause will strip us of our sense of self, our libido, and ultimately, our relationship. That’s simply not true. With the right tools, communication, and understanding, couples can emerge stronger, more connected, and more in tune with each other than ever before.”
Kate’s husband, Neil Usher, a senior property professional, co-authored A Couple’s Guide to Menopause – Navigating the Change Together. Having experienced this journey firsthand, he understands the challenges men face in supporting their partners through menopause.
“We’ve been excluded from the conversation, assuming life will continue at the same rhythm,” Neil explained. “But we’re often caught off guard by the changes and unsure how to support our partner or navigate what’s happening around us.”
Neil stresses that menopause is not just a women’s issue - it affects both partners. “I had to learn quickly how to support Kate,” he said. “The experience changed me as much as it changed her, and that’s why we’re sharing what we’ve learned in this webinar.”
The upcoming 45-minute webinar will offer practical strategies for maintaining strong communication and intimacy in relationships, particularly during challenging times. It will provide valuable insights for both women experiencing menopause and men who want to support their partners. The session will cover effective communication techniques, ways to strengthen emotional connections, and tips for preserving intimacy.
“If you’re wondering whether you should invite your partner, the answer is yes!” said Kate. “You are a team of two, and working together makes everything easier.”
The webinar will be held from 12pm to 12:45pm on Friday 14 March, and tickets are priced at £10 each, with half of the proceeds going to the Royal Osteoporosis Society. This session is open to both women experiencing menopause and men who want to support their partners, offering practical guidance for navigating this stage together.
