The Helpful Clinic

London, 18 July 2024: On Wednesday, 24 July, in celebration of International Self-Care Day, a distinguished panel of well-being experts will convene from 7:00pm to 8:30pm (UK time) to explore the critical questions of why and how individuals can overcome the most commonly reported barriers to doing self-care.

This online discussion is free to attend and, thanks to the range of experts participating,  promises to offer valuable insights to a broad audience.

International Self-Care Day, observed on 24 July, symbolically represents the importance of self-care 24/7. The significance of self-care is often misunderstood, a key topic that the expert panel will address during this insightful session.

The event is hosted by Thor A Rain, a health activist, trainer, pain and fatigue specialist, and First Aid for Feelings author. Thor and the panel will delve into the most frequently reported challenges in prioritising self-care:

  1. Permission: Many individuals struggle with granting themselves permission to invest time and effort in self-care, often due to the outdated notion that self-care is selfish. This discussion will highlight why self-care is essential and how to overcome this barrier.
  2. Inspiration: Understanding practical self-care can be challenging. The panel will offer creative and diverse ideas beyond the typical suggestions, making self-care accessible and personalised for everyone.
  3. Motivation: Even those who recognise the importance of self-care often find it difficult to act. The experts will provide strategies to cultivate strong, motivating reasons to integrate self-care into daily life.

This event will be especially beneficial for those facing:

  • Challenging relationships
  • Neurodiversity or disabilities, both visible and invisible
  • Issues with joy, confidence, and personal sovereignty
  • Trauma, including childhood sexual abuse trauma
  • Pain, fatigue, stress, or anxiety
