Last week, Reuters partnered with Facebook to act as one of the third-party fact-checkers for the platform in the UK, after starting the same partnership in the US six weeks ago.
In this week's podcast - and as today we celebrate the international fact-checking day - Journalism.co.uk speaks to head of UGC newsgathering at Reuters, Hazel Baker, about the variety of ways mis- and disinformation is taking form during the coronavirus pandemic.
Baker talks about some distinct types of false information, from wild conspiracy theories to concerning forms posing as legitimate news sources, and how Reuters reporters verify these claims while working from home.
It is tough when there is so much information to wade through. What helps, Baker said, is understanding its various forms to pick your battles wisely.
