A new report launched on 9 May called ‘Journalists in the UK’ examines industry views on the ethics and practices of journalism, pay and diversity within the profession, and the changing pressures of the news environment.
Dr Neil Thurman, lead author on the report and professor of communication at Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, explains that the study, by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford, aimed to find out more about "the people behind the stories".
By surveying a sample of 700 journalists, he found some surprising statistics. Listen to the podcast to hear a round-up of the report's findings.
