The Lincolnite was one of the more innovative UK independent news organisations since launching in 2010, most recently investing half a million pounds to create a community-centric app in a bid to monetise local journalism. But last month, it went bust and closed down.
In this week's podcast, managing editor Daniel Ionescu sheds light on why this happened, posing big questions on the sustainability of independent local news when platforms, governments and no, not even audiences, are willing to support innovation on a scale that would help it survive.
