Trackers are a type of data journalism that visualises changes over time. That could be A&E waiting times in your area, house prices, or the performance of local care homes.
Those are just a few topics that Scottish media company DC Thomson has been tracking in recent years. While tricky to produce initially, once the hard work is done, they are relatively low maintenance, can be updated easily and can serve as valuable evergreen content.
However, its latest High Street tracker is a slightly different beast. It looks at vacant units in four Scottish cities, the latest one being Aberdeen.
The murky world of property ownership has presented all sorts of new challenges for the trackers, and in this week's podcast, we pore over those with DC Thomson's head of data journalism Lesley-Anne Kelly, and data journalist Ema Sabljak.
