The Mag Hags podcast is a new show where journalists Franki Cookney and Lucy Douglas take a look at women's magazines from the 70s through to the early 2000s.
As they flick through the pages, it is clear that times have changed… a lot.
There is a lot to be desired from the yesteryear of women’s magazines, like the fearless yet tongue-in-cheek reporting on topics that women would get nowhere else. But there is also plenty to wince about, like the outdated language and lacking representation, which has improved since.
In this week's podcast, we pore over what has stood the test of time and what has not, with a big question: what has helped women’s magazines endure through the rise of digital and social media? And what has been lost?
