Times Online appoints new multimedia editor

The Times Online has appointed Matt Walsh, former ITV News Channel deputy editor, as its new multimedia editor.

Mr Walsh joined The Times on Monday after working at ITN since 1999.

The new role has been created to help The Times develop its existing range of multimedia material and podcasts.

Mr Walsh will also be responsible for providing content for the website’s new online TV service, Times TV, and considering new areas for multimedia development.

Mr Walsh said: "I really hope to integrate more audio and visual material into the Times Online website and make the most of the things we are already doing."

He added: "I'm really looking to get innovative and exciting things on the player. If you look at stuff being done in print papers it is a broad church of material that is carried as news.

"We are looking at incorporating the whole range of the talent available at The Times in the multimedia format."
