The Sunday Times, Independent on Sunday and Mail on Sunday are going head-to-head in the Sunday newspaper category
Credit: Lewis Stickley/PAThe Times, Daily Mail and the Guardian have made the shortlist for daily newspaper of the year at this year's London Press Club awards, with the latter also shortlisted for scoop of the year for its phone-hacking coverage.
In the Sunday newspaper category, the Sunday Times, Independent on Sunday, Mail on Sunday will compete for the prize of best newspaper.
As well as the Guardian's phone-hacking revelations, the scoop of the year category also includes the Daily Mirror's article on Milly Dowler's killer, and an edition of Panorama documenting abuse at a care home, which won at the Broadcasting Press Guild awards last month.
Sky's Alex Crawford, Channel 4's Alex Thomson and BBC Newsnight's Paul Mason are the nominees for broadcast journalist of the year.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 8 May.
