The Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) this week confirmed Conor McNicholas, editor of Top Gear magazine, and Peter Bale, executive produce of Microsoft UK, among the line-up of speakers for its annual conference.

The tagline for this year's event, which takes place in London on Thursday 29 April, is "inspiration and innovation" and the use of social media for marketing, developing products for iPhones and tablet technology are all on the agenda for discussion.

The list of speakers also includes: Evelyn Webster, CEO of IPC Media; Tim Brooks, managing director of Guardian News & Media (GNM); Stevie Spring, chief executive of Future Publishing; and Mark Kelsey, CEO of Reed Business Information (RBI).

Full details of the event can be found on the conference website.

Commenting on yesterday's circulation figures for the magazine industry reported by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), the PPA said it was buoyed by the results, despite drops in circulation for many of the larger magazine publishers and a further downturn in the men's magazines sector.
