The contest is open to English-language sites from around the world for work first published online between 1 July 2001 and 30 June 2002.
The categories are: general journalistic excellence for a large site; general excellence for a small site; breaking news; enterprise journalism; service journalism; feature journalism; and creative use of the medium and individuals (self nominations welcome).
These will be broken down into two categories: independent sites and affiliated sites.
The Audit Bureau of Circulation's digital media arm has already reported that entries are up to 785, double that of last year.
