Salon founder David Talbot is leaving the web magazine, according to the Mail & Guardian online.

Company president Elizabeth Hambrecht will take over as chief executive and senior vice president and managing editor Joan Walsh will become editor-in-chief.

Mr Talbot made the announcement last Thursday when Salon also reported its first ever quarterly profit of US$395,000.
