Next week Reuters UK will host an 'unconference' on the future of journalism, social media and politics.

The £1.40 event on Wednesday November 11 will bring together Twitter users to discuss ways that  social media has had a real-world impact.

Events such as the news coverage of the Mumbai bombings last year and the Iranian post-election protests in June will form part of the event, which is billed as 'a highly participatory '.

Attendees are being asked to submit issues that could use 'some help from social media' on the Reuters site.

Sessions covering 'improving news' and 'making politics more engaging' have already been agreed with three further sessions to be chosen from comments left on the Reuters blog or a wiki set up for the event.

The team also has plans for live coverage of the day and ways for those not attending to contribute online, including under the hashtag #1pound40.

The event, which will be held at Reuters' London office in Canary Wharf, will run from 2pm-8pm and has been organised in association with Amplified.

The minimum ticket price is £1.40, but donations are being asked for as all proceeds will fo the the DEC disaster fund appeal for Indonesia.

The event is part of Reuters' Great Debate series, which has previously featured crowdsourced interviews with leading UK politicians.

For more information and to see who will be attending see the event's registration page.
