Harold Evans Sir Harold Evans
Former Sunday Times editor Sir Harold Evans has been named as Thomson Reuters' new editor-at-large.

Evans' appointment was announced today alongside a new discussion series, due to launch tomorrow, featuring him in conversation with leading news makers, to be broadcast on Reuters.com.

In a release, Thomson Reuters said Evans' 14 years as editor of the Sunday Times and one year as editor of the Times involved him spearheading investigative coverage "that dramatically influenced British law and public policy".

Evans, who in 2000 was named one of International Press Institute's 50 Heroes of World Press Freedom, was knighted for services to journalism in 2004.

"Harry is one of the greatest minds in journalism," Stephen Adler, Reuters editor-in-chief said in the release.

"He brings invaluable experience, innovative ideas, and access to the world's most influential leaders."

In April this year Reuters' global editor-at-large Chrystia Freeland was named as editor of its digital news operation.
