The BBC has appointed Ralph Rivera as director of digital media in its Future Media & Technology department.

Rivera will be responsible for all of the BBC's digital media products on the web, a release from the corporation states. His role will involve working in partnership with the BBC's journalism and editorial divisions on web, mobile and internet-connected TV.

He will take up the position on 8 November and joins the BBC from Major League Gaming in New York, where he oversaw the development of its professional video game league.

Throughout his career, Ralph has a proven track record in creating digital media products that are used by millions of people," says Erik Huggers, director of BBC Future Media & Technology, in the release.
