A writer and video producer for the New York Times has won the 2010 Concentra Award for outstanding videojournalism.

Adam Ellick's five-minute film 'Cracking the Whip in Pakistan' produced for the Times in April 2009 looks at the underground industry for fetish products in Pakistan.

Ellick beat nine other films to take the €10,000 prize, including Frontline Club founder Vaughan Smith whose film on Operation Moshtarak for Channel 4 was nominated for the prize.

The award was born in 2005 to recognise excellence in videojournalism from broadcast TV, news websites, newspaper sites and IPTV news stations.

An additional Breaking News Award went to Casey Kauffman from Al Jazeera International for his item 'Baby Feras', the story of a boy in Gaza who cannot get the treatment he needs for his heart condition. This secondary prize is presented to the best piece that is shot, edited and broadcast in one day and has a maximum duration of 5 minutes.
