A new series of awards to recognise "the good, the bad and the ugly" of the PR and media industries in 2009 will open for entries this week.

The Pressies, organised by online industry discussion forum UKPress, will award prizes in 15 categories including biggest PR blunder, best use of social media and most original PR campaign.

Co-founder of UKPress Jo Chipchase said the awards were attended to be humourous while recognising good and bad practice in the industry.

Nominations will open on Wednesday 10 February and close on 5 March. Entries will be whittled down by a panel of industry experts, with the shortlist announced on 10 March.

The winners of the prizes will be voted for by members of the UKPress community, which includes journalists, PRs, editors and photographers on 12 March.

The awards will be given out at an event in April, which also celebrate the forum's 10th birthday. A full list of the prize categories can be seen at this link.
