IPC Media has appointed deputy editor of Glamour.com Carla Bevan as editor of Marieclaire.co.uk.

Ms Bevan - who starts her new role on 18 September - had previously worked as assistant editor of Swarovski Magazine as well as freelancing for More! magazine and Metro. She has also written for Vogue.com and GQ.com.

Marie O'Riordan, Marie Claire editor, said: "I am thrilled that marieclaire.co.uk already has the power to lure someone of Carla's calibre and track record.

"She is a human dynamo of energy and ideas and I am really looking forward to working with her to ensure we quickly become the first destination for fashionable women online.

"Carla will be a central part of the editorial team, participating in and influencing all plans for the brand's development."

Ms Bevan said: "I am delighted to have been appointed Marie Claire's online editor and am looking forward to working with Marie [O'Riordan] and Richard [Johnstone - publishing director] to fulfil the potential that marieclaire.co.uk has to offer.

"With the magazine going through exciting changes of its own, now seems like the perfect time to expand Marie Claire's online presence and I will relish the opportunity to be a part of that."
