According to the March 2009 report, the Telegraph recorded 27,708,274 unique users for the month - a month-on-month increase of 5.88 per cent.
A month-on-month rise in unique users of 3.58 per cent sees Guardian.co.uk in second place with 26,238,539.
In February the Sun topped the table, with Telegraph.co.uk in second spot. In March, however, TheSun.co.uk saw a drop by 22.25 per cent in unique users, leaving it in fifth position behind Times Online. The two News International titles were the only among the six national newspapers included in the ABCe audit to see a month-on-month fall.
"Telegraph.co.uk had a record month. Finance, Travel and Blogs were among the biggest contributors to our growth. Sport and Technology also continue to be popular," Edward Roussel, digital editor at the Telegraph Media Group, said in a media release issued today.
