Leveson said he expected the editor of the Independent on Sunday to be 'interposed at some stage during the course of today's evidence'
Credit: Martin Rickett/PAThe editor of the Independent on Sunday has been called on by Lord Justice Leveson to appear as a witness later today, after an article was published by the newspaper which he said "disclosed details which are in fact part of [Andy] Coulson's witness statement".
Coulson, former director of communications for the Prime Minister David Cameron and previously editor of the News of the World, is due to appear before the inquiry today.
Speaking at the start of today's Leveson inquiry hearing, Lord Justice Leveson said he anticipated that as a result the editor of the Independent on Sunday "will be interposed at some stage during the course of today's evidence to deal with the issue".
It is understood this means the editor, John Mullin, will be appearing as a witness later today.
Mullin has already issued a written statement to the inquiry, which was taken as read in January.
The Independent on Sunday had not responded to a request for comment at the time of writing.
