The distinguished US online journalism commentator Jeff Jarvis will join experts from around the world for the 'Is World Journalism in Crisis?' event.

As previously reported on Journalism.co.uk, the free and open-to-all event will take place in the Humber Theatre of Coventry University on Wednesday October 28 from 2-5pm.

Camelot plc, the National Lottery operators, will sponsor the conference, which is also supported by Coventry University's International department and Journalism.co.uk.

The unique worldwide video conference will be chaired by Kevin Marsh, editor of the BBC College of Journalism and former editor of BBC Radio 4's Today programme, and will feature live contributions in Coventry from professors Richard Keeble and John Tulloch, Dr Fred Mudhai and Judith Townend from Journalism.co.uk.

In addition video link contributions will come from Professor Jeff Jarvis in New York, Professor Adrian Monck in Geneva, Dr Suzanne Franks, Professor Tim Luckhurst in Canterbury and Professor Fackson Banda in Africa. More names will be added soon, with a link to China in the pipeline.

"I am delighted. It is starting to fructify very well. The big names are coming to Coventry via modern technology to discuss the big issues. This is exactly where a modern university should be - at the heart of the contemporary debate," said John Mair, senior lecturer at Coventry University and producer of the conference.
