As IPC Weeklies' first digital advertising director, Davidson, who was formerly head of digital sales at News International, will be responsible for developing and implementing a digital advertising strategy across IPC's TX and Connect portfolio of websites, which includes Now, whatsontv and goodtoknow.
"TX and Connect have incredibly strong brands, and this combined with their unparalleled insight into mass market women provides a formidable platform with which to drive and launch commercial properties," said Davidson, who was head of digital agency sales for Sky before taking charge of the commercial development of The Sun and News of the World websites.
Strengthening its online team further, IPC has announced Kevin Brown will start this week as IPC Connect's new digital development director.
He is tasked with delivering a comprehensive digital strategy, building on the success of Connect's celebrity gossip website Now, and main women's portal goodtoknow, which launched in beta last month.
"Connect brands appeal to all ages - and all attitudes - of UK women," said Brown, who managed developments in broadband VOD, user generated applications and mobile for Virgin.
"These women are migrating online in greater and greater numbers and the prospect of building on the existing digital development at Connect is truly exciting."
