Vice scooped 10 awards in the fourth annual Lovie Awards, the European version of the Webby Awards, announced today.
This year, Vice won 'best overall presence' in the social category, while Vice News won a silver award for 'best news and information' in the same category. Automated news feed The Latest, which aggregates headlines from Twitter, received the bronze award.
Vice News was also a silver winner In the 'news websites' category, followed by Wired Italia, and Where the Drones Strike, a project from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism visualising drone strikes in Pakistan, who both won bronze.
The awards for 'best web personality/host' went to Vice News reporter Simon Ostrovsky for his Russian Roulette series reporting on the Ukraine crisis.
Documentaries were also recognised in the 'internet video' section, where the Guardian's Fast ice: rescue from Antarctica won a gold award, while Channel 4's Unreported World Shorts and Vice's Warlords of Tripoli both received silver awards.
Vice's music spin off Noisey was a gold winner in the 'music websites' category, while Vice.com won a silver award for 'best writing – editorial'. Dazed Digital and Vogue.es both won bronze awards in this category.
Meanwhile, BBC iPlayer received a bronze award in the 'media streaming service' category.
The Lovie Award winners were chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which is also the judging body of the Webby Awards.
