The half-day event in Coventry will feature contributions from foreign correspondents, broadcast journalists and academics specialising in conflict coverage.
Chaired by Kevin Marsh, editor of the BBC College of Journalism, the debate 'Afghanistan: Are we embedding too much truth?' will form part of the university’s ongoing Coventry Conversations series.
Speakers including the University of Kent’s Tim Luckhurst and filmmaker and Frontline Club founder Vaughan Smith, will be joined by other panellists in Coventry and via video link. Coventry's pro-vice-chancellor for international development will open the discussion.
The video conference, which will run from 1pm - 6pm, is sponsored by Journalism.co.uk and the BBC College of Journalism, as well as Coventry University's media and communication and international studies department.
Full details of the event will soon be available on the university's website.
