CNN is expanding its newsgathering operations in the US with a team of 'all-platform journalists'.

The new recruits will use new technologies and 'traditional journalism training' to report from 10 new locations including Seattle, Las Vegas and Houston.

They will provide content for CNN's broadcast and digital platforms and use the latest technology developed by CNN, which includes lightweight camera and video editing kits for journalists in the field, the broadcaster said in a release.

New bureaux will also be set up in Columbus, Denver, Minneapolis, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Raleigh-Durham.

The 'all-platform' staff will work alongside general assignment reporters and correspondents from the broadcaster's news programmes.

"CNN’s rapid adoption of new technology over the years put us in the enviable position to be able to expand at a time when others are cutting back. Our technological innovations allow our reporters to be at the center of more breaking news events and developing stories across the United States, with greater independence and mobility than ever before," said Nancy Lane, senior vice-president of newsgathering for CNN in the US.
