The new Cross Platform Certificate of Circulation, which applies to consumer and business magazines, will list circulation figures for both print and digital editions, particularly those designed for mobile and tablet devices, in a single report.
The new certificate was agreed by representatives from the industry at recent meetings of the ABC Reporting Standards Group, as part of new reporting standards which will come into effect from January next year.
"As more and more publishers are launching digital editions of their publication, it is crucial that we support the industry in promoting the growth of their digital offering," director of magazines at ABC Jan Pitt said in a press release.
The Newspaper Reporting Standards Groups will be meeting later this month to also discuss similar changes to their reporting standards, the release adds.
