Hugo Drayton, former marketing and new media director of the Telegraph group, has been appointed European managing director of US-based marketing agency Advertising.com.

Mr Drayton helped to launch the Telegraph.co.uk, the UK's first online newspaper site.

Advertising.com specialises in internet advertising and is owned by media giant AOL.

"It is testimony to both the continued success of our company and the growth of the European online advertising market that we have attracted a managing director with Hugo's experience and abilities," said Gar Richlin, president and chief operating officer of Advertising.com.
