i overtakes the Independent with highest circulation increase in July
Sales of the i newspaper have overtaken that of sister title the Independent, after the new compact title enjoyed a six percent increase in July.
According to figures for July released by the Audit Bureau of Circulation today (12 August), i's average daily circulation of 183,677 was 796 copies higher than that of its quality stablemate.
The Independent recorded a 5.5 per cent increase in average daily circulation last month, taking its total to 182,881.
The biggest decrease among national morning titles audited by ABC was recorded by the Financial Times, with a drop of 5.5 per cent.
The Scotsman and the Guardian recorded the next biggest month-on-month decreases, of 3.47 and 2.93 respectively.
In a statement, the Guardian said its figures for July were the first to not include its international editions, after publication of these titles were ceased as part of the company's digital-first strategy.
