4ip, the public service media fund backed by Channel 4, has teamed up with UnLtd for a new awards scheme for digital media.

Grants of up to £5,000 will be open to projects from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and will include support with mentoring, training and access to resources to help the projects.

4ip has already invested in hyperlocal training project Talk About Local, crowdsourced interview platform Yoosk and investigative journalism site Help Me Investigate.

Applications will be assessed on how the project challenges people to see the world differently, inspire change, revolve around the participation of users and use digital media in a new and original way, according to the awards site.

Eligible projects should ideally look at either using the internet and mobile technologies to monitor how government and organisations use their powers; or explore how digital tools, games and applications can help people change their lives for the better.

Individuals or groups can apply, if over 16 years of age. For more information or to make a submission call 0845 850 1122, email 4ip@unltd.org.uk or visit the awards website.
