Why did you choose to become a freelancer?

After working on a trade magazine for 15 months, I wanted the diversity of being able to write for a broader range of publications and audiences, on a wider range of topics.

If you trained, where? If not, how did you become a freelancer?

I trained in journalism on the postgraduate newspaper course at City University, London. I then joined Credit magazine as a reporter.

Do you specialise in any particular field and what areas do you write about?

At Credit magazine, I wrote about fixed income investing, so that's an area I specialise in, as well as business reporting more broadly. However, I also write general news stories, plus lifestyle, arts and travel features.

Which publications have you been published in?

Magazines: Credit magazine, FX Week

National newspapers: The Sunday Telegraph, News of the World

Regional newspapers: The Bristol Evening Post, The Edinburgh Evening News, The Richmond and Twickenham Times, The Hounslow and Brentford Times, Staines Guardian, Surrey Comet

Which articles, in which publication, are you the most proud of?

I'm probably most proud of getting an exclusive interview with José Manuel González-Páramo, a European Central Bank executive board member, while at Credit magazine.

What are the best and worst aspects of freelancing?

Best: being able to have lie-ins!

Worst: having nobody to speak to while you work.
