Build in Digital is a leading online publication covering construction technology, sustainability, and the built environment.

We deliver news, analysis, and insights on innovation and digital transformation in the sector, alongside construction trends and major developments globally, reaching a highly engaged audience of industry professionals.

Alongside our editorial coverage, we regularly host online events, exploring the latest innovations and how these can be implemented. The publication is also represented at some of the industry’s main trade shows and expos.

The role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated tech journalist with a keen interest in construction and the built environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and writing compelling and impartial news stories and feature articles, commissioning and editing third-party contributions, as well as engaging with industry contacts.

As the ‘face’ of Build in Digital, you will take the lead in further growing the site and taking its presence to the next level, representing Build in Digital at key industry events, including hosting discussions and panels.

Key responsibilities

  • Research, source, and write high-quality news stories and feature articles related to construction technology and innovation
  • Develop and maintain strong industry contacts to gain exclusive insights and leads
  • Work closely with the editorial team to enhance Build in Digital’s content strategy and audience engagement
  • Attend and report on industry events, conferences, and expos
  • Represent Build in Digital as a panel host, or moderator at events
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive the publication’s growth and influence within the industry

Requirements

  • Proven experience in journalism, preferably in technology, construction, or a related field
  • Strong writing, research, and editorial skills. Knows the difference between editorial and ‘content’
  • Ability to build and maintain industry relationships
  • Good SEO and social media skills
  • Maintain a healthy degree of scepticism; not easily wowed by hype
  • Comfortable hosting and speaking at events
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently
